AMERICA'S ECONONIC DECLINE IS BEING HIDDEN
If you read the book, Arrogant Capital, by Kevin Phillips, written in 1994-1995, you'll see that his predictions, and those of Paul Kennedy in his best seller, The Rise and Fall of Great Powers have happened.
The Chart Below shows how the forewarnings have come true.
The capitalistic measure of what is an Economic Success Story is flawed. The measurement of National GDP is skewed by the inclusion of financial transactions, which do not produce anything of value in the International Market. What nations are buying, HOW MUCH of our Production, is the Economic Statistic that is completely ignored by economists of the past decade.
We are on the downward spiral, already, becoming a has been in the World's Economy.
The U.S. is well down the path of becoming a Ghost Nation.
Since Consumer--the working class-- expenditures make up 2/3 of our GDP and we place no value on the quantity and quality of jobs being produced by our Economy, is it any surprise that our leaders have led us astray?
BETRAYED may be a better description of their corrupt behavior.
They have sold out to the Financial Elite by ignoring basic Economic Common Sense.
First, take care of the largest buying group, the working class must prosper.
They are:
- The Home Market must be Number One; and "market" means that economic functionary which is made up of products produced at Home;
- The Consumers' Standard of Living must grow in a balanced and progressive curve;
- Economic Prosperity is not measured by the ups and downs of Wall Street but by the Progress in Jobs Creation at Home;
- Nothing good will happen in our Economy, when there are Imbalances and Inequities in the Political Environment; and
- People and Jobs must be Prior to Corporate Tax Breaks;
In Lincoln's First Inaugural Address, he stated the foundation for Economic Prosperity:
"Labor is prior to, and independent of capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed, if labor had not first existed.
Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."
Abraham Lincoln, 1861
