The Last of California's Old-Time Mining Camps,
by Douglas McDonald. 48 pages, illus., color cover, 7 x 10. Though Bodie was discovered in 1859, no significant mining was begun until after rich strikes in 1877 brought about a furious mining rush two years later. The height of the boom occurred in 1880, though the mines were still active until 1920. Illustrations show the mines and miners, street scenes, buildings, the mills bullion, and the crowds which made up Bodie.
